About Recycling

What is recycling?
Recycling is when the material the object is made from is used to create something new.
For example a glass bottle can be recycled by crushing it, melting it and turning it into a vase, dish or even a new glass bottle!

Why do we need to recycle?
If we don't recycle our rubbish it ends up in landfill sites. For more information on why this is a bad idea, click here.

What can I recycle?
Depending on the schemes run in your local area items such as plastic bottles, aluminium cans, glass bottles, aluminium foil, paper, cardboard and newspapers can be recycled. Old clothes and textiles can either be recycled or donated to your local charity shop.

How can I recycle?
Some Councils run kerbside collection schemes that will pick up your recyclables from your doorstep. You can also find bottle and paper banks in many public spaces such as carparks and supermarkets
